Genesis 8:1

🌊 Quick Reads

Genesis 8:1

Gen. 8:1 But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

After 150 days of flooding (7:24), God remembered Noah. What does this mean? Does God forget so that He has to remember? No, God does not forget. Rather God remembered means it is time that God is going to do something. In this case, God is going to change the situation brought about by the great flood, and hence the water is going to recede. The land that is covered with water is going to reemerge and God is going to restore His creation. The long wait in the ark could have been very difficult for Noah and his family. However, God did show up and “remembered” them. You might have been going through challenges and you might have been waiting for God’s answer. It might have been a long time of waiting for God’s intervention and you feel like He has forgotten you. Do not give up! God has not forgotten. He will surely “remember” you at the right time, which means God will act when it is the right time to act. He will not necessarily act at the time you want Him to; He knows the best timing. Moreover, He may not act in the manner you want Him to; He knows the best course of action. But rest assured that God has not forgotten you (cf. Isa. 49:15-16). Put your hope in the Lord! Trust in Him! He will “remember” you!

May the Lord help us to hope and trust in Him fully even in difficult times knowing that God will “remember” us and act at the right time!
